Dongtan Beach is part of Jomtien Beach in southern Pattaya,  It is perhaps the most popular gay beach in Thailand, attracting a large group of gay expats, visitors and locals all year round.

The gay section of the beach is right near the gay-friendly Rabbit Resort.  There are plenty of sun loungers and shades available for hire.  Behind the beach is a tree-lined promenade with stalls selling food and drinks as well as masseurs offering Thai massages.  This promenade area was landscaped a few years ago and is now closed to traffic during the day, making the area very quiet.

Dongtan gets busiest in the afternoon and on the weekends, with most people heading back to their hotels around 5-6 pm.

Pattaya is less than two hours drive from Bangkok via the Motorway (Highway No. 7) or the Bangna-Trat Highway.  Driving directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport takes about 1½ hours. Another option is to take the train from the HuaLamphong Railway Station.  The train runs daily, several times a day. To take a bus, there are frequent buses with services from MoChit and Eastern Ekamai bus terminals to Pattaya.  Minivans services are also available and a great option if you travel with a group. You can sometimes hire a metered taxi from Bangkok for an agreed fixed rate. To get to Dongtan Beach, head to Jomtien Beach in South Pattaya. Last updated: 04-28-2014
