Provincetown (P-Town) is where the gay sophisticates of Boston, New York and Montreal go to hit the beach. Indeed, the resorts genteel historic veneer belies a frantic three summer month season of non-stop partying.
This is a place where you can go whale-watching in the morning, visit one of seventy-plus galleries in the afternoon and club at night until the early hours of the morning. You can even get married here, as Massachusetts was the first US State to recognize same-sex marriage back in 2004.
Provincetown has a long tradition of lesbian presence: from the number of women-only B&Bs, to a lesbian section on the beach, this is a resort which caters for all members of the gay community.
Year-round gay events have taken root in this liberal commune. From the leather men’s weekend in February to the Holly Folly pre-Christmas gay and lesbian festival, to a women’s week in October, there is something for everyone each month.
