Infamously Famous
Pattaya is one of Asia’s largest beach resorts and the second most visited city in Thailand. Located about 150 km from Bangkok on the Gulf Coast of Thailand, Pattaya is (in)famous for its lively nightlife and sex industry.
In recent years, the local authorities have made improvements to promote Pattaya as a more family-oriented holiday destination. Besides go-go bars and cheap entertainment, the city offers an excellent choice of restaurants, resorts, attractions and activities to enjoy.
Pattaya is divided into three areas: North, Central and South. North Pattaya is the quiet section, whereas Central Pattaya (or ‘Beach Road’) is busy with shops, entertainment and nightlife including the gay “BoyzTown”.
South Pattaya is home to the popular PattayaLand and Walking Street. The famous Jomtien area that includes Jomtien Complex and Dongtan gay beach is located next to South Pattaya.
Gay Life in Pattaya
The gay section of Jomtien Beach (also known as “Dongtan Beach”) is where a large number of gay tourists, both locals and expats, hang out. There are sun loungers for hire and many stalls selling food and drinks.
In the evening, most gay visitors head for the gay bars around Jomtien Complex, or the go-go bars at BoyzTown and Sunee Plaza to enjoy live entertainment by young male dancers.
Drag queen cabaret shows by Tiffany’s Show and Alcazar Cabaret Show offer nightly performances that have been a major part of Pattaya’s attractions for decades.
Pattaya also has several gay massage spas as well as a few late-night gay dance clubs for those who wish to party a bit longer.
