Located on the south coast of Lantau Island, Cheung Sha Beach is one of Hong Kong’s longest (3 km) and most beautiful beaches.

The beach is split into two parts by a rocky outcrop.  The upper section is quieter, while the lower beach has restaurants, surf rental shops, changing rooms and shower facilities.

The beach is frequented by windsurfers as well as local gay sunbathers.

How to get there

From Central Hong Kong, there are two options.  You can catch the Mui Wo ferry from Central Pier No.5  and take a bus (number 1, 2, 4 or A35) to Tai O, or take the MTR to Tung Chung, and take bus 11 to Tai O. Get off the bus just after the first intersection, after coming down the hill. Last updated: 04-28-2014
