Bondi Beach is the most gay-popular beach in Sydney.  Located 7 km from the city centre, Bondi attracts many residents, tourists, backpackers, sunbathers and surfers.

The beach is about 1 km long.   There are different hazard ratings (10 being the most hazardous).  Sea conditions on Bondi Beach can change rapidly.  Keep a careful eye on the flags and pay attention to warnings given by the lifeguards.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafés along the beach serving food and drinks all day long.  Kiosks on the beach are available if you want to grab a quick bite.  Remember, it is illegal to drink alcohol on the beach itself.

Gay guys tend to hang out at the north end of the beach and the area along the beachside.

How to get there

Take the train to Bondi Junction and then a bus the final 2 km to the beach.  Alternatively, take a bus from Circular Quay or Oxford Street (380 or 333 with destination of North Bondi or Dover Hights, Watson Bay or Bondi Beach). Driving is not recommended as parking near the beach is severely limited. Last updated: 01-15-2016
