Beach 19 (‘Praia 19’ or  ‘Praia de Bela Vista’) is located just south of Lisbon on the far end of Costa da Caparica.  This large, sandy beach is predominantly gay and has beautiful, natural surroundings.  Nearby establishments offer drinks, food and internet access.

There is plenty of space for clothing-optional sunbathing.  The gay cruising takes place mainly in the dunes and the forest area in the late afternoon.  After sunset, the beach becomes quite empty and unsafe.

How to get there

By public transport From Liston, catch a train that takes you across the bridge to Pragal/Almada, then take a bus from the station to Caparica.  Buses from Lisbon to Caparica depart daily, from Praça de Espanha and Praça do Areeiro. By car Cross the 25 de Abril bridge southbound and take the first Exit on the left which will lead you straight to the town.  Upon returning through the same bridge, you will have to pay a toll fee. 1. Beach 19

“To get to Beach 19 by bus from Lisbon is a long way and in my eyes not worth it. 161 bus from metro plata espana will take you to Costa Da Caparica for Euros 3.25 each way. I was determine to find beach 19 which resulted in me walking a further 5k along the beach. There is a small train that takes you along to the nudist beach at 6 euros. Costa Da Caparica has lovely beaches but the Town is look tatty.”
