Scene

Brighton is one of the best loved seaside destination in the UK, and officially, the most visited. It is the most popular weekend get-away destination for gay Londoners.

The UK’s favourite gay seaside destination.

Brighton has a big city feel, but has its own unique urban style and attitude. The city has a busy shopping district, an abundance of bars, restaurants and clubs, a Marina, one working pier and one ruined, and miles of beaches and seafront walks.

The city’s Victorian seafront arches, once derelict, are now trendy cafés & restaurants. Paving and new lighting has made the beachfront more attractive and safer both during the day and night.

Bring a mat and beach shoes.

Brighton’s beach is mostly shingle with a flat sandy foreshore visible at low tide. Beach mats and beach shoes are advisable. The sea water is clean and has been awarded a European Blue Flag for quality.  With such a large gay population, you are going to find gay sunbathers all along the beach front, but the official nudist section is generally the most popular.

The Brighton gay scene is centered around the Kemptown side of the city centre (close to the sea) and St James Street in particular.  It serves the large local gay population and the many gay visitors and tourists who flock here throughout the year.

Brighton is located on the UK’s south coast. Hourly fast train services take just 1 hour to travel from London to Brighton. Brighton can be easily reached by car, but parking is a real challenge.
