The transformation of Puerto Vallarta from a traditional fishing village to a glitzy resort started in the early sixties with the filming of Tennessee Williams’ “Night of the Iguana” by John Huston, one of those old Hollywood movies with a subtle gay theme. Attracting the paparazzi was a galactic cast: Ava Gardner, Debora Kerr and Richard Burton, who brought along his new girlfriend, Elizabeth Taylor.
